St. Charles spaniels must have a fenced yard or be on a leash or they will be off chasing squirrels or anything else that moves. They are fearless when facing off with other dogs. A true toy companion dog when he is not his usual active self he is very affectionate and devoted. There is nothing he will love more than to cuddle with you on the couch.
