I honour and celebrate the love we have for our animals through my paintings. I capture the personality of your pet so that they can continue to touch your heart forever. Animals hold a special place in our hearts, and it is this that inspires me. Through my portraits, I strive to convey this deep affection and connection. It is important to me to be a voice for all animals by promoting their welfare. I donate a portion of commissions to various animal welfare organizations.
My name is Cherin, and my artistic journey has taken me from a grade five classroom to the squatters camp in Africa, and remote villages in the Amazon. I have witnessed the transformative powers of art as a therapeutic tool, and seen its ability to bring joy to people’s lives. It is my greatest pleasure to contribute to the world of art.
My artistic journey began with simple graphite sketches progressing to botanical art and landscapes of natural scenes. I have explored watercolour and acrylic, but soon found myself captivated by the soft rich world of pastel. My goal is to breathe life into these animals moving far beyond the photograph. Only with pastel, have I found the vibrancy necessary to achieve high realism. It is an honor when individuals entrust me to immortalize their cherished pets, treating them (or their memory) as if they were my own.
I continue to seek inspiration from renowned artists both nationally and internationally. The guidance received through workshops with luminaries such as Robert Bateman, Eric Wilson and Emma Colbert has had a profound impact on my artistic development. I am a Signature Member of the Pastel Artists of Canada, a member of The Botanical Artists of Canada, member of Fine Art America and numerous local art clubs.

Charitable Contributions: I have long supported many nonprofit animal and environmental conservation organizations through donations of time, money, art, and art proceeds. As an environmentalist and animal rights advocate for the SPCA, Furry Friends Shelter and Veternary Services. If you have a local animal conservation organization that needs help, I would be happy to direct 10% of the cost of your pet portrait to them.
