Transferring Photos to Paper
Paint a picture from any of your personal photographs you have available at home by transferring the picture to a painting surface. Even if your drawing skills are non-existent.
- Select a favorite photograph (your dog, cottage, flower, etc.)
2. Photocopy the picture enlarging to an 8.5″ x 11″ copy on bond paper in both black and white and color.
3. Rub the flip side of the black and white transfer paper over and cover with graphite. (Tip: Use a soft pencil such as 4B or a primary pencil used in schools.)
4. Tape the top of the transfer paper to the surface you would like to paint.
5. Using a colored pencil or pen outline the shape of your subject as well as key line indicators within the shape. Be careful not to press too hard as it may cause the paint to pool later. You can use acrylic paint, watercolor, colored pencils or even crayons to paint a picture of your dog depending on what paper you have chosen and what supplies are available.
